Meira Finishes Friday Practice in 11th Position
Brazilian was Seventh Quick in Morning Session

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Panther Racing's Vitor Meira proved to be a threat for the Firestone "Fast Six" tomorrow during qualifications for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Under the IndyCar Series qualification procedures, the quickest six qualifiers after single-lap qualifications will have a European-style duel for the pole position. Meira and his EcoNova Panther team look to make it into the Firestone shootout, and help Vitor better his fifth place finish at St. Pete just a season ago.

Vitor finished the day 11th-quick with a top lap of 101.285 mph, 1:03.9780 seconds. He was seventh fastest in the morning session.

The Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg will be broadcast live on ESPN at 3:45 p.m. (EST) on Sunday with additional coverage provided by the IMS Radio Network and XM Satellite Radio Channel 175.

Vitor Meira Quote:

"This was a productive day for us in the EcoNova Honda. We know what is going to work in qualifying and the race tomorrow. We made some changes for the second session that didn't work out as well as we thought, but we know we are going to be strong. Everybody at Panther is looking forward to the race."
