Matsuura Ninth in Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg Qualifying Kosuke Matsuura will start ninth in Sunday 's Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, the second round of 2006 IndyCar Series competition. Matsuura had placed the #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone amongst the top 10 throughout practice activities on the 14-turn, 1.81-mile street circuit located in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, Fla., and ended Friday sixth-fastest overall. Hindered by understeer in the one lap, single car qualifying session this afternoon, Matsuura was unable to set a time comparable to his pace in practice.

Tomorrow's 100-lap event will mark Matsuura's 35 th career IndyCar Series start. At St. Petersburg last year, Matsuura looked poised for a top-five finish but retired from the race five laps from the end with a gearbox problem. He is currently sixth in the championship standings.

Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"I knew it was going to be difficult in qualifying, but I am a little disappointed with this time and this result. In practice, when we put new tires on, the car developed quite a bit of push. I knew it was going to be very difficult to put everything together for one lap. I'm not concerned for the race, but it hurt us in qualifying. I am very confident for tomorrow. We have been pretty strong all weekend, and I am looking forward to finishing in the top three tomorrow."
