VISION RACING COMPLETES FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE AT INFINEON RACEWAY
SONOMA, Calif. -- Vision Racing drivers Tomas Scheckter , A.J. Foyt IV and Ed Carpenter took to the 12-turn, 2.26-mile permanent road course at Infineon Raceway today in preparation for Sunday's Motorola Indy 300 presented by Jackson Rancheria Casino & Hotel.
All three drivers participated in both practice sessions on the day with Scheckter leading the team in the No. 2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone machine. Scheckter was 11th fastest overall on the day and completed 39 laps.
Carpenter was 14th quick in the No. 20 Hitachi Power Tools machine and completed 44 total laps.
Foyt, completed 51 laps in the No. 22 Vision Racing Honda powered Dallara and was 17th on the speed charts.
Tomas Scheckter -- No. 2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
On practice: "Things definitely could have been better for us. We weren't too far off, but we still aren't as quick as we'd like. The guys really worked hard with all of the changes we threw at the car and hopefully tomorrow morning we can really get the car how we want it for qualifying and then the race."
Ed Carpenter -- No. 20 Hitachi Power Tools/Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
On practice: "Practice went okay. These road courses are challenging and we still aren't performing at the level of the top teams on these tracks yet so that's put us behind. We really just have to focus on the things we have control over and do those well, like strategy, pit stops and running consistent laps. If we can do those things well, then that will allow us to improve our road course performance and put us in a position go come away with better results."
A.J. Foyt IV -- No. 22 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone
On practice: "Practice went alright and we were able to get in quite a few laps today. I've just got to thank my guys for really working hard on the car with all of the changes and things we tried today. I'm still working on my road course driving and it's coming together the more experience I'm able to get on track, but for now we just have to turn as many laps as we can and keep trying to find more speed in different spots on the track."
