Scheckter Starts 14th

SONOMA, Calif. -- RockStar Panther driver Tomas Enge grabbed an impressive fourth-place starting position Saturday during qualifications for the Argent Mortgage Indy Grand Prix. Enge qualified for the "Firestone Fast Six" after his one-lap qualification run, but did not better his time during the ten-minute shootout for the pole. Pennzoil Panther driver Tomas Scheckter will start 14th tomorrow.

Enge will make his fourth start from inside the Top Five and has qualified for the "Firestone Fast Six" in both non-oval events this season. His quick lap was 106.903 mph, 1:17.4537 seconds, which came during his one-lap attempt. He started fifth at St. Petersburg earlier this season in the Indy Racing League's first street-course event. He is coming off his career-best IndyCar Series result, which was a sixth-place finish in Pikes Peak last week.

Scheckter ran a fast lap 105.126 mph, 1:18.7626 seconds, which put him in the 14th position. Scheckter was unable to test during the IndyCar Series open test earlier this season, and is still learning the details of Infineon's tricky 12-turn, 2.3-mile circuit.

Tomas Enge:

"I'm very happy. We've made huge improvements over the weekend, and we improve every time that we go out. We knew everybody would be a little slower because of the heat. The RockStar car is working very well right now. And this is the kind of track that I really like. This is going to be a very physical race and there are some places to pass. It will be hard, but the same for everybody that will be racing with us tomorrow."

Tomas Scheckter:

"That's all I had today. I couldn't expect to get too much more out of it. I didn't get to come here and test, and because this track is so tough to learn, it's hurt me a little bit. We'll take what we can get and hope for a good run tomorrow in our Pennzoil Chevrolet. We'll be very happy if we can finish in the Top Ten, and if we can do better than that, it will be great."
