Matsuura Lines Up 13th after Qualifying at Infineon

Kosuke Matsuura produced his best lap of the Infineon Indy Grand Prix race weekend in single-lap qualifying this afternoon and will line up on Row Seven of the grid for Sunday's 80-lap race. Last year, Matsuura battled back from a 15th -place starting position at the 2.26-mile, 12-turn Infineon Raceway road course to finish sixth and will be looking to duplicate that effort tomorrow.

Matsuura's background prior to joining the series consisted entirely of road/street circuit events. In the five IndyCar Series non-oval races held to date, Matsuura has claimed three top-seven finishes.

Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone: "This has been a difficult weekend for us, for both myself and Scott [Sharp]. We are struggling a little bit with the setup. In qualifying, the car wasn't bad. It was a little bit too neutral in [Turns] Six and Seven, but overall it felt okay. For tomorrow, I will do the best I can. The race is 80 laps, and I think the team will give me a good strategy as well. I will try to push hard."
