Fort Worth, Texas (October 15, 1999) -- Today Kelley Racing announced the contract extension of driver Scott Sharp through the 2001 Pep Boys Indy Racing League season. Team owner Tom Kelley said, "Scott Sharp is an integral part of our Kelley Racing program. Scott gave us our very first team win, and he gives 100% effort every race weekend. In cooperation with our sponsors, we feel that a long term relationship with Scott Sharp is in our team's best interest."

"Tom and Jim Kelley run their businesses in a first class manner," stated driver Scott Sharp. "I am proud to represent the Kelley's, Delphi Automotive Systems, and our other sponsors in the Indy Racing League. I am looking forward to accomplishing our team's many goals in the years to come. I'd like nothing better than to end my racing career with Tom and Jim at Kelley Racing."

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Scott Sharp became Kelley Racing's second employee in the fall of 1997, joining teammate Mark Dismore. In 1998, Sharp won two races (Phoenix and Dover), and led the season's championship through the summer eventually finishing fourth. At the start of the 1999 season, Scott captured Kelley Racing's first team pole at Orlando and won the team's third race at Atlanta in July. Heading into this final IRL race, Scott Sharp is one of six remaining drivers who are eligible to capture the Pep Boys Indy Racing League championship crown.
