New Starting Time Changed for SunTrust Indy Challenge

RICHMOND, VA, June 18, 2004- The starting time for the SunTrust Indy Challenge set for next Saturday, June 26 at Richmond International Raceway has been changed from 8:00 p.m. to 7:55 p.m., announced track president Doug Fritz today.

"We want our fans to enjoy every minute of the SunTrust Indy Challenge," Fritz said. "Five minutes may not sound like a lot, but IndyCars can top 170 mph at Richmond, which is about a 15 second lap. The green flag will fly at 7:55 p.m., so we are encouraging our fans to be in their seats early so they won't miss any of the action."

Pre-race activities will include a special performance by the IRL Skydive team and a flyover by four A-10's from the 118th Fighter Squadron in Connecticut.

As with the last three SunTrust Indy Challenge events, fans will also be treated to the Dominic's of New York 100 USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series race at 5:45 p.m.

The action starts Friday with WRIC TV 8 Pole Qualifying for the SunTrust Indy Challenge and the Richmond International Raceway debut of the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series. Friday's ticket also includes an autograph session with all of the IRL IndyCar Series drivers.

Tickets are still available for both days by calling 1-866-455-RACE (7223) or by visiting www.rir.com. Kids 12 and under are free both days in the general admission sections with a ticketed adult. All tickets for Friday are only $15, while reserved seats for Saturday are only $35 and general admission tickets are just $30. Weekend long garage passes are also available for adults 18 and over for just $35.

Fans will also be treated to a huge fireworks display after the SunTrust Indy Challenge.
