Rain clouds brought the Firestone Indy 200 at Nashville Super Speedway to a close before the first wheel even turned on Saturday (July 14th).

The race is rescheduled for a 1:00pm EDT start on Sunday (weather permitting).

Race officials announced at 9:00pm Saturday local time that a deadline of ninety minutes was effective to commence the competition. Shortly after that announcement, the heavens opened and any hope of getting in a race tonight quite literally "evaporated".

"It's really disappointing as it kind of breaks up the momentum the Target team had going this weekend," said pole winner Scott Dixon. "But just like the Energizer Bunny was going and going, even in the rain, we hope to keep it going through tomorrow. We're still on pole and ready to give the fans a great race tomorrow."

The official weather forecast for Sunday in the Nashville area calls for highs in the upper eighties, and a twenty percent chance of rain.
