Treadway Top-Ten after Wild Ride
Phoenix: Rick Treadway finished ninth in the Bombardier ATV Copper World Indy 200 from the Phoenix International Raceway. Driving the #55 Airlink Enterprises/Spade Motorsports entry for Treadway Racing, Treadway dodged multiple incidents in the attrition filled event that saw only twelve of the twenty six entrants running at the checkered flag.
"We had the luck of the Irish with us today," said Treadway. "That was a wild ride. It was like a war out there. There were a number of incidents that I just barely avoided and we broke the nose of the car running through the grass missing one of the crashes. I have to thank the whole team. My engineer Tim Wardrop gave me a great car and the crew did an awesome job. Our goal was to be running at the end and we accomplished that. We've got all four wheels on her as we head to Fontana next week. We'll see what the #55 Airlink Enterprise car has there."
Treadway spun on the green flag lap, but avoided contact. After several near misses Treadway was forced through the grass on lap 103 to avoid several crashed cars and ended up air born after running over the curb. Treadway took the checkered flag as the top finishing rookie and G-Force chassis. Treadway is currently 17th in the overall season points standings and 4th in the Rookie of the Year battle.
The next event is the Yamaha Indy 400 on Sunday March 24th from the Fontana Speedway. The race can be seen on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. EST.
