INDIANAPOLIS 500 POWERHOUSE PENSKE RACING FILES THREE ENTRIES

INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, March 30, 2005 -- Penske Racing, winner of a record 13 Indianapolis 500-Mile Races, filed three entries March 30 for the 89th running of the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing."

Two-time winner Helio Castroneves and Sam Hornish Jr. were named as drivers for two of the entries.

The 89th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for Sunday, May 29 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Entries must be postmarked by midnight Wednesday, April 6.

Castroneves, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, will attempt to make his fifth career Indianapolis 500 start in the No. 3 Marlboro Team Penske Dallara/Toyota/Firestone, with an identical backup car entered. Rick Rinaman is the chief mechanic.

Castroneves started his Indy 500 career with victories in 2001 and 2002, and won the MBNA Pole and finished second to Penske teammate Gil de Ferran in 2003. It was the best three-race start of a driver's career in Indianapolis 500 history.

Hornish, from Defiance, Ohio, will attempt to make his sixth Indianapolis 500 start in the No. 6 Marlboro Team Penske Dallara/Toyota/Firestone, with a backup entered. Matt Jonsson is the chief mechanic.

Two-time IndyCar Series champion Hornish has a career-best Indy finish of 14th, in 2001.

No driver, chassis, engine or tire was designated on the third Penske entry.

Tim Cindric is the Penske Racing president, and Tom Wurtz is the team manager for the No. 3 and No. 6 entries.
