Sharp Looking to Rebound at Nashville

The IndyCar Series returns to action this weekend with the Firestone Indy 200 at Nashville Superspeedway kicking off a string of three back-to-back events in July. Scott Sharp, who is in his 11th season of IRL competition, will be making his sixth career start on the 1.33-mile oval. After gridding eighth due to a qualifying rainout last year, Sharp posted a strong drive in the #8 Delphi machine to claim his career-best finish at Nashville Superspeedway of fourth.

Sharp enters the weekend seventh in the championship standings despite a disappointing result two weeks ago in Kansas. Following a pair of fifth-place runs at Texas and Richmond, Sharp watched valuable points fall by the wayside when a mechanical failure ended a potential top-10 finish 35 laps shy of the checkered. He will be looking to rebound in Music City as the series prepares for the final night race on the 2006 calendar this Saturday.

Scott Sharp - #8 Delphi Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"With the [championship] points so close, we are obviously heading to Nashville looking for a strong result. I really enjoy this race. Nashville is a tough track that always produces a lot of wheel-to-wheel action and is a really exciting race for the fans. As a team, we have a lot of expectations heading into the final stretch of races, and we're looking to go a few better than our fourth-place finish here last year."
