Kanaan Earns 10th Starting Position at Indy Japan 300

MOTEGI, Japan (April 29, 2005) - Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan recorded a lap of 203.332 miles per hour (26.9116 seconds) during qualifying at the 1.5 mile oval at Twin Ring Motegi and will start from the 10th position for Saturday's running of the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series Indy Japan 300.

The fourth event of the 2005 IndyCar Series season is set to go green at 12 a.m. (EDT) Saturday with ESPN providing tape-delayed broadcast coverage of the 200-lap event beginning at 12 p.m. (EDT).

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"I'm not happy at all with our qualifying effort. But I was pleased with the Team 7-Eleven car yesterday when we put it in race trim and we seemed to make some improvements during the final warmup. The one thing that we know we can do is pass cars. It's been pretty wild for me in that regard this year, so I'm not too concerned about where I start."
