Midwest storms have placed pre-qualifying practice on hold while the track is being dried. Practice was scheduled to being at 8am Indy time (9am EDT). Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials have announced a probable start at 9am their time, 10am EDT. Both groups will have at least 30 minutes on track time.

The MBNA Pole qualifying will begin on schedule at 11am (noon EDT). This is the third time in ten years that weather has delayed Pole Day qualifying for rain. In 1997, unseasonal cold weather delayed the start of practice on Pole Day.

Who will take the pole? Between the veterans and rookies, this year's pole could hit the 232mph mark and should definitely hit 230mph. Five of the veterans are former winners of the Indy 500.
