Sharp Confident of Strong Run at Michigan

The IndyCar Series winds up a string of three back-to-back weekends of racing this Sunday with the Firestone Indy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Scott Sharp has finished in the top 10 in each of his four previous appearances on the two-mile superspeedway, recording his best finish of fourth in 2003.

Sharp enters the Michigan race weekend 12th in the championship standings and is looking to put his season back on track. After two strong runs and back-to-back top-five finishes at Texas and Richmond, mechanical issues eliminated Sharp from the following two events at Kansas and Nashville. Last weekend at Milwaukee, Sharp soldiered on with an ill-handling race car to finish 12th . His is currently eight points outside the top 10 in the series' standings.

Scott Sharp At-A-Glance:

* Will be making his fifth career start at Michigan International Speedway

* Finished seventh at Michigan last year

* Claimed his best qualifying result at Michigan in 2005, starting fifth

Scott Sharp - #8 Delphi Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"I have some pretty high expectations entering the Michigan race weekend. This is a track that I have really enjoyed ever since the IndyCar Series started coming here in 2002, and it always produces some great racing for the fans. July has not been a good month for us in terms of results. It has been character-building to say the least for everyone with the Delphi Fernandez team, and we are more than ready to turn things around. We have been strong on the big ovals, and I fully expect us to be competitive this weekend."
