Brooklyn, MI: Two-time Indy 500 winner Arie Luyendyk finished 16th in the inaugural Michigan INDY 400 from the Michigan International Speedway. Driving the No.55 Meijer/Coca-Cola/ G-Force/Chevrolet entry for Treadway-Hubbard Racing Luyendyk started 20th. It was his first Indy Racing League start other than the 1999, 2001 and 2002 Indianapolis 500's since October of 1998 where he won at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"It was fun," said Luyendyk. "It didn't take me long to get the hang of the drafting. The car was really comfortable to drive and I was easy flat. In fact, I was flat the second lap of the weekend. We just didn't catch a break all weekend. If the first yellow had come out two seconds earlier it could have changed the entire complexion of the race for us. The guys did a great job and we had great pit stops, we just didn't have the horsepower to run with the guys up front. The track isn't very challenging for a driver. It's pure horsepower so it's pretty obvious what our issue is."
