(Reynoldsburg, OH) 30 May 2006--Michael Shank Racing wishes to congratulate Sam Hornish Jr. on his Indianapolis 500 triumph this Memorial Day weekend. Hornish, who raced with Michael Shank Racing in the Toyota Atlantic Championship in 1999 and took a win at Chicago Motor Speedway on his way to seventh in the championship, won the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500 with a last lap pass of Marco Andretti to take his first-ever win at the Brickyard this weekend.

The .0635-second win was the second-closest in 500 history and earned the Defiance, Ohio native $1,744,855.

Hornish, who netted "Rookie of the Year" honors in the 1999 Atlantic Championship, has not only driven for Shank, but also with him, as the two were co-drivers in the 1999 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

"I'm really proud of Sam," said Shank. "He is a heck of a driver, and is also one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in the sport. I know he was happy with his two IRL championships, but winning Indy was really what he wanted, so to see him accomplish this is really fantastic."
