Kelley Racing Aims for Race Win and Consistent Handling Cars

1999 Pep Boys Indy Racing League Championship - Round 10 Vegas.com 500 Las Vegas Motor Speedway / Las Vegas, Nevada Practice Report -- Friday, September 24, 1999

NOTES AND QUOTES: Kelley Racing drivers Mark Dismore and Scott Sharp spent Friday's practice sessions developing consistent set-ups for Sunday's Vegas.com 500. Dismore and Sharp posted the seventh and 11th fastest practice speeds, respectively. Dismore piloted the MCI WorldCom/Dallara/Oldsmobile to a speed of 205.958 mph. The Delphi Automotive Systems car of Sharp, posted a speed of 205.011. Both drivers agreed the key to winning the race would be consistence in the set-up over long green flag runs.

#8 Scott Sharp, Delphi Automotive Systems/Dallara/Oldsmobile/Goodyear: "We're still trying to sort through some handling adjustments on the #8 Delphi car. We worked on race day set-up today. Tomorrow, it will be very crucial we qualify as close to the front as possible. This will be a long and enduring race. Our starting position will be extremely important."

#28 Mark Dismore, MCI WorldCom/Dallara/Oldsmobile/Goodyear: "The MCI WorldCom car feels great! We can go as fast as anyone, but our focus is getting the car comfortable and consistent over the whole fuel run. The track is real hot, and we're working on getting the slide out of the car. I think we have a real shot at both the pole and the race with a little luck."
