Qualifying Rainout Leaves Matsuura 15th in Kentucky
Qualifying for the Amber Alert Portal Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway was canceled due to rain this afternoon, placing Kosuke Matsuura on Row Eight of the grid as a result of combined practice times. Matsuura claimed his career-best IndyCar Series finish to date on the 1.5-mile oval last year with a strong run to fourth place. Despite his 15th-place starting position -- only 0.2337 seconds off the fastest time of the day -- Matsuura is pleased with the handling of his #55 Panasonic machine and is optimistic of a strong finish in tomorrow's 200-lap race.
Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Panoz/Honda/Firestone:
"This is one of my favorite circuits, and last year I had my best result [of the season] here. After the practice sessions, I think we found a pretty good setup and I was ready for qualifying so we are a little bit disappointed because of the rain. The race is 200 laps and I think we have a good race setup as well. I'll be ready for the 200 laps tomorrow and I am looking forward to a top-five finish."
