Adrian Fernandez claimed his career-best IRL IndyCar® Series qualifying result this afternoon and will start fourth in Sunday's Belterra Casino Indy 300. Fernandez posted a best lap of 24.7439 215.326 mph on the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway tri-oval, only 0.0791 seconds off the pole position claimed by fellow Honda driver Buddy Rice.
Fernandez will be making his 10th IndyCar Series start in tomorrow's 200-lap race, and will be looking to improve on his career best finish to date of fifth.
Weather: For the start of the first practice session, temperatures at 67 F under sunny skies with variable winds at 3 mph; temperatures hovering at 70 F for the start of the second practice session, with winds out of the north at 9 mph; temperatures at 71 F with 5 mph winds out of the north for qualifying.
Practice Recap: Fernandez held the 12th fastest time in the first of two 45-minute practice sessions with a best lap of 25.0547 212.655 mph; Fernandez improved to claim the third fastest time in the second practice session with a best lap of 24.6913 215.785 mph.

"We had a good day. The car has been fast, and to be starting in the top five will help us for the race tomorrow. I think we have a strong car. It helped to come here and test, so we have our hopes pretty high for this one. Kosuke [Matsuura] is also running pretty strong and hopefully, as a team, we can get to the front."
