Mark Dismore and his MCI WorldCom crew captured their first podium finish of the season with a third place finish at the Colorado Indy 200. Dismore's performance today placed him to 10th place overall in the driver championship standings with a total of 176 points. Kelley teammate Scott Sharp ended the day in 22nd due to brake problems on the #8 Delphi Automotive Systems car. Despite Sharp's bad luck this afternoon, he is currently in a three-way tie for 7th place in the championship with driver Jeff Ward and Eddie Cheever, Jr.
#8 Scott Sharp, Delphi Automotive Systems/Dallara/Oldsmobile/Goodyear car: "We had a brake problem from the very get go. That's why we went a lap down. We lost the front brakes, and it made for slow pit stops for our Delphi team. I had to be very careful, especially out on the track in traffic. Overall, the car was great. It's too bad about the brake problem because the car was a sure top five finisher. We'll need to turn our focus to Las Vegas and Dallas, and do a little points catch-up."
#28 Mark Dismore, MCI WorldCom/Dallara/Oldsmobile/Goodyear car: "I'm tickled to death. I'm so happy we got on the podium today. This really helps us push forward in the championship standings. The MCI WorldCom crew gave me a great car today. They are a great bunch of mechanics and I' m excited for all of us. We battled a little understeer out there, and I really couldn't do much on the straightaways. I tried to catch Greg Ray and Davey Hamilton, but they both had great cars. The hard work is finally paying off. "
