KELLEY RACING HEADING TO LONE STAR STATE

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 8, 1999) -- Kelley Racing and American drivers Mark Dismore and Scott Sharp head to Texas this upcoming weekend for Round Five of the Pep Boys Indy Racing League Championship series. Teammates Dismore and Sharp, who are ranked sixth and eighth respectively in the driver points standings, will be seeking their first wins this year. The Longhorn 500K will be the first of two races that will be held at Texas Motor Speedway this IRL season. The second race will be in October on Sunday the 17th.

Team thoughts:

Scott Sharp, #8 Delphi Automotive Systems car - "This will be a very important weekend for us. With a limited amount of races in the IRL (11), every race is so important to do well. Since we had to drop out of the Indy 500, we can't afford to have another DNF for the remainder of the season. I think the 1-mile high-banked ovals were built for our kind of cars. The races at Texas are so exciting and it's extremely competitive amongst all the teams. The most important elements for us during the race will be drafting and pit-stop strategy."

Mark Dismore, #28 MCI WorldCom car - "Well, I really have only one focus for this upcoming race weekend -- and it's to WIN. I've had a great car all season long and it's about time I start winning. I really enjoy competing at Texas. It' a lot of fun. The track is very similar to Charlotte and Atlanta. We seem to have good set-ups on these tracks. I'm just focusing on doing well."

Jim Freudenberg, General Manager - "We're certainly looking forward to a great race weekend in Texas. We've made a few team personnel changes after the Indy 500 and are looking forward to positive results on the race track. Scott and Mark are two great drivers and deserve the best equipment and personnel available to help them get into the winner's circle."

The Lone Star 500K presented by MCI WorldCom is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. (EDT) Saturday night, June 12. It will be the second night race out of three this season. The race will be televised LIVE on FOX Sports Net. Qualifying for the PPG Pole on Budweiser Qualifying Night starts at 9:15 p.m. (EDT) Thursday, June 10 and will be televised LIVE on SpeedVision beginning at 9 p.m. (EDT).
