INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- October 24, 2002 - This week begins a new weekly series spotlighting a member of the Kelley Racing Crew. Every Thursday, www.kelleyracing.com will feature a short informational feature on a member of the talented Kelley Racing team whose tireless efforts give our drivers the cars and support they need to win races and run for the IRL Championship.

This week's Kelley Racing Crew Member Spotlight is focused on Joe Baird.

Joe Baird begins his second season with Kelley Racing as a mechanic and the left rear tire changer for the # 8 Delphi car driven by Scott Sharp. He began his team member career in USAC switching to the IRL in its first year of competition.

The 25 year-old native of Shelbyville, IN has been involved in racing the majority of his life inspired by early childhood hero A.J. Foyt. He is the 1998 IKO Minicup Champion and has won track championships at both Rockford Speedway and the Speedrome. Baird continues to race his go-kart as time permits.

In addition to his own racing success, Baird counts winning the 2001 IRL championship with Sam Hornish as one of his greatest thrills to date in the sport. His goals with Kelley Racing include winning both the Indianapolis 500 and the IRL championship.

Baird recently became engaged to Katie Hardwick and currently resides in Indianapolis.
