Looking to Win Again
Eddie Cheever Jr. looks to build on his win in the inaugural Argent Mortgage Indy 300 in 2001 by guiding his two drivers Alex Barron and Ed Carpenter to the winner's circle. Alex in his only other IRL start at Kansas Speedway finished 8th in 2002. Ed in his two starts at Kansas in the Infiniti Pro Series has finished 2nd and 5th.
Barron Finds Clarity This Season
The "super-sub" has finally found a home this season with Red Bull Cheever Racing. His streak of nine straight races with the team is his longest since 2002 and it has led to a continuity that is leading to success for the 34-year-old from Menifee, CA. Barron has posted one 3rd place finish (Bombardier 500) and one 4th place finish (Copper World Indy 200) this season, which have put him in 9th place in the points standings.
Do not be surprised if you see a lot of people in red, white, and blue around the Red Bull Cheever garage. Keep a lookout for the American duo of Alex Barron and Ed Carpenter as they look to celebrate more than The Fourth of July this Sunday, while driving their Chevy-powered cars to victory lane.
So What Are They Saying About Kansas Speedway?
"I'm excited to go back to Kansas because I've raced there the past two years in the Infiniti Pro Series and finished in fifth and sixth. It's a fun track and I've had more experience this year on mile and a half ovals, so I'm looking to be competitive going into Kansas and in the hunt for a good finish. Even though I've been unlucky and haven't finished the last two races, I have good chemistry with my new engineer (Iain Watt) and feel really good about the upcoming races."
"I didn't race at Kansas last year, but from the past I know that the weather has always played a big part in the race for physical endurance because it's so hot and humid. It's one of three races (Texas and Chicago) where the tracks are similar, so lots of the setup carries over. We're ready for a good run to keep or improve upon our current standing in the points (8th). Kansas is fun to race on and the fans really seem to enjoy the race."
Open To The Public
Alex and Ed will be signing autographs at the Red Bull Cheever Racing Merchandise Trailer in the outfield on Saturday, July 3rd from 2:15pm to 2:45pm. On Sunday before the race, they will be answering questions from the public in the Fan Forum from 10:00a.m. to 10:20a.m. at the Indy Racing Live Stage located in the midfield at Kansas Speedway.
