Indianapolis, May 27, 2001 - 2000 Rookie of the Year Airton Dare' was the only driver who was able to bump his way back into the grid on last Sunday's Bump Day shootout. Although he began the 85th running of the Indy 500 in the rear of the field (#30), Dare' marched his way to an 8th place finish in the #88 1-800 BAR NONE car.

"The car's handling just got better and better as the race went on," said Dare'. "We consistently improved the stability of the car and we had plenty of power to make our way through the field."

Dare' and TeamXtreme completed the race with the second best finish (only to Eliseo Salazar) in the group of other IRL teams. Fuel strategy played a key role toward the end of the race.

"My engineer warned me about our fuel consumption," said Dare'. "We had to keep the RPMs to a minimum without letting Boat catch up to us. I think we only had a few drops of fuel left in the tank. Everything just really performed great today - the Firestones, the RPM motor and the 1-800 BAR NONE car was well balanced. I can't wait to get to Texas."
