INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 -- Following is a statement from Indy Racing League officials following Chevrolet's announcement earlier today.

"Chevrolet officials announced earlier today their intent to supply engines to the IRL IndyCar® Series through the 2005 season, but not in 2006," said Ken Ungar, senior vice president for business affairs of the Indy Racing League. "While we are disappointed, we understand that General Motors has to deal with its own competitive issues, both on and off the track."

The IndyCar Series' current engines will be used through 2006. Specifications for the 2007 engine will be developed in the near future. Both Honda and Toyota will supply engines through 2006.

The IRL IndyCar Series opens its 10th season of competition with the Toyota Indy 300 on March 6, 2005 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The race will be broadcast live on ESPN and the IMS Radio Network. The 2005 Menards Infiniti Pro Series season also opens on March 6 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
