VISION RACING TURNS 238 LAPS IN PRODUCTIVE BUMP DAY PRACTICE

SPEEDWAY, Indiana -- With all three of Vision Racing's Rock & Republic sponsored, Honda-powered Dallaras all qualified safely into the top 15 for the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500, the team used another great day of weather to log 595 miles around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, today. The only "bumping" going on in the Vision Racing stable on this year's Bump Day was the bumping of completed items on the team's "to-do" list.

Tomas Scheckter in the #2 Vision Racing Honda/Dallara/Firestone turned the most laps of the three Vision Drivers as he put in a total of 80 laps and the team's fastest speed of the day at 222.431 mph. Scheckter, who qualified in the middle of row four yesterday in the 11th spot, was seventh fastest today. This will be the second time in a row that Scheckter has started in the 11th spot. He's also started in the 10th spot twice for the Indianapolis 500 and he has never started any higher than the 12th position.

Teammate, Townsend Bell in the #90 Rock & Republic Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone was second quick of the trio today with a best lap of 221.482 mph, making him 11th fastest on the speed chart. Competing as a rookie at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Bell is challenging for the JPMorgan Chase Rookie of the Year award. Thus far he is the fastest rookie of the month with the ninth best speed overall at 226.552 mph. Bell qualified in the 15th spot yesterday and second among the rookies.

The #20 Vision Racing Honda/Dallara/Firestone, driven by Ed Carpenter, completed 65 laps today with a best speed of 221.117 mph. That speed put Carpenter 14th on the speed chart. In yesterday's qualifying, Carpenter earned his best starting spot in his third attempt at the Indianapolis 500 with the 12th quickest four-lap average. Carpenter's previous best IndyCar Series start at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was 16th in his rookie season.

The team will return to the track for Miller Lite Carb Day on Friday, May 26th for the final practice before the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500. Miller Lite Carb Day practice is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. and last until noon (EDT).

90th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Practice Results and Quotes (May 21, 2006):

Tomas Scheckter -- #2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On practice for the day:
"Today was good for the team to get back out there and work on a lot of different things and really get prepared for race day. I've got to give all the credit to the team this month as they've put in a massive amount of time and energy into building us great racecars. I think we are in good shape for the race and I'm looking forward to it."

Townsend Bell-- #90Rock & Republic Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On practice for the day:
"Practice was great. The car was really good and very consistent. I'm really happy with the balance that we have and we are looking forward to the race and showing what this Rock & Republic car can do."

Ed Carpenter -- #20 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On practice for the day:
"Practice was pretty good. We didn't have a whole lot to accomplish today and I think the conditions are different today than what we are going to see during the race. So we just went back out today to make sure the car would feel as good as it did last week on the longer runs. We were also able to get into a little bit of traffic and make sure that I'm still happy and comfortable. We accomplished that and worked on a couple of other little things and we should be looking good for Carb Day."
