Meira and Matsuura Prepare for One More Practice Before Pole Day Qualifications

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- (May 11, 2007) - Panther Racing drivers completed Fast Friday practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with both drivers looking forward to tomorrow's Pole Day qualifications. Vitor Meira finished 15th on the final speed chart and Kosuke Matsuura ended the day in 19th position.

Matsuura started seventh last year, on the inside of the third row, with new teammate Meira just one spot ahead, on the outside of the second row. Meira's sixth place starting spot a season ago was Panther's best ever start in the Indianapolis 500.

Vitor Meira #4 Delphi Panther Racing
"Even if the speed doesn't look great right now, the balance of the Delphi car is there. We continued to try a lot of things and now that the car is good, we know how to take out what we need to get the speed. I'm excited about qualifications tomorrow, we're really looking forward to getting this car in the show."

Kosuke Matsuura #55 Panasonic Panther Racing
"Today was the last day of practice before the qualifying but unfortunately we couldn't make a perfect car for qualifying. About an hour after the session started I had a linkage problem so I couldn't run for almost two hours. I went back out but I couldn't quite find a good setup. Engineer Brent Harvey and I will do our best to find the setup for the qualifying and hopefully we will be able to check it at tomorrow's practice session."
