Meira, Matsuura Both Finish Inside the Top Ten; Complete Best Day of Month

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- (May 10, 2007) - Panther Racing drivers Vitor Meira and Kosuke Matsuura completed their best day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday, as both drivers finished inside the top nine on the final speed chart. After Matsuura jumped up to speed yesterday -- finishing tenth on the chart -- Meira found some much needed speed late during Thursday's practice session and finished eighth, with a top lap of 225.441 mph, 39.9217 seconds.

Matsuura, who finished ninth on the final chart, posted a quick lap of 225.350 mph, 39.9378 seconds. The team will spend Fast Friday attempting to perfect its setup in preparations for Saturday's Pole Day qualifications.

Vitor Meira #4 Delphi Panther Racing

"We made some great strides today. Everybody at Panther knew this week that the speed was there, it's just a matter of putting everything together. Kosuke and I are getting more confident everyday about our qualifications. The Delphi crew has really helped make this a fun week and we still have another day to get even quicker."

Kosuke Matsuura #55 Panasonic Panther Racing

"Today's the third day of practice and things are improving everyday. We had little problem with the setup but we were able to solve it and found a good setup. I am happy with the car and the Panasonic team has been great. We only got one more day of practice so my engineer and I will have a meeting tonight and hopefully we will improve our time . I am looking forward to finish up the car for the qualifying tomorrow."
