TEAM CENTRIX DRIVERS JUNQUEIRA AND BOURDAIS QUALIFIED 12TH AND 15TH IN TODAY'S MBNA POLE DAY FOR THE INDY 500
OVERALL: All pole day activities scheduled for Saturday, May 14th were moved in their entirety to today due to inclement weather.JSunday's qualifying determined the top 22 starting positions by virtue of the average of their four qualifying laps.
Bruno Junqueira, No. 36 Team CENTRIX Honda/Panoz/Firestone: "The CENTRIX team ran four very consistent laps and got the most out of the car that we could. I was flat all the way around. We concentrated on setting the car up for the race and didn't run a qualifying setup until today. Maybe we were two miles slower than we could have been if we kept working but we did what we could do. I think Team CENTRIX did a very good job on the race setup so hopefully the car will be very good for the race and we can move up front."
Sebastien Bourdais, No. 37 Team CENTRIX Honda/Panoz/Firestone: "I'm happy that both CENTRIX cars are in the show but definitely disappointed with our speed. We expected to be about one and a half miles faster, where Bruno is, but this is what we could do. We said we were going to come here and work on the race set up and we did and got in the show but it would have been great to have had time to work on our qualifying setup as well. We made the car better every day. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we worked on race setup and only got one attempt in qualifying trim before today before we had to park it due to rain on Friday and yesterday. We can't quite find the speed for qualifying but hopefully we will reap the fruits of our work on our race setup in the race. We started out pretty far off when we first got here and worked our way up. We'll see if it's good enough on race day."
