Third Row Starting Position for Matsuura in Indianapolis 500
Kosuke Matsuura, #55 Panasonic ARTA Panoz/Honda/Firestone:
"My engineer, John Dick, and the mechanics did a great job today. We were expecting mid-226 (mph) and that's what we did. The car was very good, but it was a little bit windy out there when we were out. I was hoping to stay in the second row, but I am happy with our starting position. We have a very good shot for the race from here. Now we will focus on our race setup."
Tom Anderson, Managing Director:
"Given the day, I was happy with the Panasonic car and Kosuke. Everything was pretty much at our limit for the time of day, weather conditions and the situations to run our 226+ (mph) laps. It was very consistent. I think we would need a couple more days of practice to get into the mid-227 range and, obviously, that is not the way the system works. It was our best run for the day and I'm very pleased. It puts him in a solid position for a very competitive race here at Indy."
