Three Infiniti drivers among top five fastest

Indianapolis, Ind. (May 10, 2002) - Three Infiniti-powered drivers - Robbie Buhl, Tomas Scheckter and Eddie Cheever Jr. - were among the top five drivers during the final full day of practice for the 86th Indianapolis 500.

Driving the Team Purex/Aventis Dreyer & Reinbold Racing G Force with Infiniti power, Buhl had the second-fastest lap of the day -- 231.603 mph -- as drivers made their final preparations for Saturday's pole qualifying. He was less than one-tenths of a second behind the fastest qualifying lap of the week.

Scheckter, a rookie for Red Bull Cheever Racing, was a blink behind Buhl's lap, recording one at 231.600 mph in the Infiniti-powered Dallara.

Cheever had the fifth-fastest lap -- 230.882 mph -- as 13 drivers topped 230 during the final two hours of practice.

Practice continues at 8 a.m. (EST) and Pole Day qualifications start at 11 a.m. (EST) Saturday, May 11. The 86th running of the Indianapolis 500 starts at 11 a.m. (EST) Sunday, May 26. Live timing and scoring of all on-track activity can be found on www.indyracing.com.
