INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, May 5, 2004 - The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network and its affiliates will provide extensive coverage from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway throughout the month of May leading up to and including the 88th Indianapolis 500-Mile Race on Sunday, May 30.

More than 400 affiliate IMS Radio Network radio stations located throughout the United States and Canada - plus the LeSea Broadcasting network, which provides worldwide shortwave radio coverage, and the American Forces Radio Network, which broadcasts to United States military installations and ships around the world - will broadcast live Race Day coverage of the Indianapolis 500 at 11 a.m. (EDT) May 30 with a pre-race show, followed by the Indianapolis 500 broadcast at noon.

The network will kick off the month of May at Indianapolis with a preview show from 6-7 p.m. on May 9, featuring notes and news on the event and a recap of the early-season races of the 2004 Indy Racing League(R) IndyCar(R) Series and Menards Infiniti Pro Series(TM).

Four "Indy Live" interview radio talk shows, broadcast live from the Brickyard Crossing Inn, will air during the month from 9-10 p.m. (EDT) May 11, 13, 20 and 25. "Indy Live" features notable drivers and other personalities of the IndyCar Series and Infiniti Pro Series.

The first show, on May 11, features drivers and officials, past and present, from Marlboro Team Penske, including 2003 Indy 500 winner Gil de Ferran, 2001-02 winner Helio Castroneves, team president Tim Cindric, four-time Indy 500 winner Rick Mears and two-time IndyCar Series champion Sam Hornish Jr.

The radio network will deliver morning and afternoon qualifying shows and regular qualifying updates every half-hour on the three qualifying days, May 15, 16 and 23.

The IMS Radio Network broadcast team for the Indianapolis 500 is comprised of these veteran radio commentators: Mike King, anchor; Chris Economaki, commentator; Dave Wilson, color commentator; Donald Davidson, historian; Jerry Baker, Turn 1 reporter; Adam Alexander, Turn 2 reporter; Mark Jaynes, Turn 3 reporter; Chris Denari, Turn 4 reporter; Dave Argabright, Kevin Lee, Kim Morris and Jim Murphy, pit reporters.

Argabright, a noted columnist for National Speed Sport News and motorsports commentator and reporter for various television networks, joins the IMS Radio Network on-air staff to provide anecdotes and feature stories, in addition to his pit reporting duties.

In addition to reaching millions of listeners worldwide via the radio waves, the Indianapolis 500 broadcast - along with every IMS Radio Network program from the month of May - also will be available live and archived on the Internet via www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com or www.indyracing.com.
