Indy Qualifying Concludes Sunday

The final pre-qualifying practice for the 88th running of the Indianapolis 500 concluded Saturday. Traditional "Bump Day" final qualifying takes place on Sunday with seven positions yet to fill in the 33-car starting field.

Honda drivers swept the first seven starting positions, and eight of the top nine, in "Pole Day" qualifying on Saturday, May 16. A day later, Honda-powered Bryan Herta led the "second day" qualifiers and will start 23rd in his Andretti Green Racing entry.

Bump Day qualifying starts at 1 p.m. EDT, and runs until 7 p.m., with live television coverage on ABC from 4-6 p.m. EDT; and on ESPN from 1-4 and 6-7 p.m.

Buddy Rice (#15 Argent/Pioneer Rahal Letterman Racing Honda) Pole Qualifier: "We ran half of the race distance on Friday and I'm really happy with the car. We are just going to get ready for the race now. We are very excited and happy the way the race setups have gone this week. It was a good test for us today. The conditions are as bad as they can get [hot and windy]. If it is cooler and nicer on race day, we know how to handle it. I think we have every variable covered."
