Hornish Leads Final Indy Practice

Pole qualifier and pre-race favorite Sam Hornish Jr. led the field Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during "Carburetion Day", the traditional final practice before Sunday's 500-mile race, and the first in which Honda will supply engines to all 33 starting cars and drivers.

Honda-powered drivers have turned a total of 12,155 laps (20,387.5 miles) so far this month. The 90th running of the Indianapolis 500 starts at 1 p.m. EDT Sunday with live television coverage on ABC.

Robert Clarke (President, Honda Performance Development) on Honda powering the entire 33-car field: "It's been a very busy month, but all of the associates at Honda Performance Development and our technical partner Ilmor have done an outstanding job. We're looking forward to race day."
