Firestone Tire Performance Summary: While the tire specification Firestone brought to Indianapolis was new to the Speedway, it had already proven that it was race-ready at the event at Twin Ring Motegi. Its worth was more than proven once again throughout the grueling month of May. The IndyCar competitors completed 19,146 laps (47,865 miles) over the course of the month without incident, and the Firehawks were praised for their consistency and grip.

From Dario Franchitti, Canadian Club Andretti Green Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone: "The Firestone tires were great all day; we had no issues. Great grip, great consistency, great speed. The tires were great, even in the rain. It was raining so heavily and they were still gripping. This is the highlight of my career with Firestone. I am delighted to win the Indy 500 on Firestones."

From Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing: "Indy is always full of surprises, and today was certainly no exception. A race that saw 24 lead changes between 9 different drivers, 11 caution periods and two rain interruptions contained plenty of excitement, and it's a day Firestone Racing will remember for a long time. As for the Firehawk tire performance, wear was excellent as was durability, and the true proof of that was that several cars, including some of the front-runners, had stops for fuel only and did not change tires. That underscores the confidence that drivers and teams have in their Firestones. We offer our hearty congratulations to Andretti Green Racing and Dario Franchitti for an excellent run and some superb pit strategy under very trying conditions. We are also proud that Dario becomes the 58th Indianapolis 500 winner to cross the finish line on Firestone tires. We now look forward to returning in 2008."
