Bronze Badge credentials available to public for 88th Indianapolis 500
Collectible badge commemorates 'Lights, Camera, Traction!' theme of May

INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 -- The Indianapolis 500 Bronze Badge credential, a popular collectible that offers behind-the-scenes access for fans, is on sale for the 2004 Indianapolis 500-Mile Race.

The bronze badge provides gate and Gasoline Alley access from Opening Day on Sunday, May 9 through Saturday, May 29, the day before the 88th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Badges are available in the IMS credential office. Cost per badge is $100.

The 2004 Bronze Badge will be a popular racing collectible as it pays tribute to the "Lights, Camera, Traction!" theme of the 2004 "500" Festival and Indianapolis 500. The theme spotlights the long connection between the stars of Hollywood and the Indianapolis 500.

"A-list" movie stars and entertainers, from Clark Gable and Dean Martin in decades past to Michael Douglas and Anthony Edwards in recent years, have been part of the live audience for the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing," the world's largest single-day sporting event.

Longtime collectors of Indianapolis 500 credential badges will note the similarities between the 2004 badge and the 1969 badge, which paid tribute to the movie "Winning," starring Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. A large portion of the classic racing drama, released in 1969, was filmed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Certain restrictions apply to the Bronze Badge. Call the IMS credential office at (317) 492-6500 for additional information.
