FOYT LEADS VISION RACING IN QUALIFYING DEBUT FOR THE TEAM

HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- The first IndyCar Series practice sessions and qualifying are complete for the 2007 season and Vision Racing's new kid on the block, A.J. Foyt IV, has lead his teammates in qualifying under the lights at Homestead-Miami Speedway in preparation for the XM Satellite Radio Indy 300.

Foyt cracked the top-ten, capturing the 10th spot on the grid for the start of tomorrow evening's race. Teammates Tomas Scheckter and Ed Carpenter completed the 12th and 15th qualifying times, respectively.

Practice for the team and the entire IndyCar Series field proved to be difficult today. Changing conditions including heat, wind, rain, sunshine and darkness kept drivers and engineers searching for the optimum race setup.

A combined total of 282 laps were driven by the three Vision Racing drivers in practice today; again with Foyt leading the way posting the ninth quickest practice time. The team will utilize those 282 laps of information and data in setting up the Nos. 2, 20 and 22 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone machines for the 200-lap, 300-mile race. Top team priority for the season-opener: get to the front and finish the race.

That said, look for an action-packed XM Satellite Indy 300 set to air Saturday evening, March 24th at 8:00 p.m. (EDT) on ABC Sports, IMS Radio Network, XM Satellite Radio channel 145 and on the web at www.IndyCar.com.

A.J. Foyt IV -- No. 22 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On qualifying and practice:

"The car was good. I'm really proud of my guys. They worked really hard and gave me a good car today. I know that we've got a good car for the race tomorrow and it will be good for us to start in the top ten. I think we can do some pretty good things. I'm just really happy for the team and I can't thank my crew enough for giving me such a good car."

Tomas Scheckter -- No. 2 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On qualifying and practice:

It was okay. It's definitely not our best showing, but I believe we can do better tomorrow. We are just going to try and race our way into the top-ten tomorrow and go from there. It was a tough day to get a handle on the car, but we made some gains and I think we can make some more during the race tomorrow."

Ed Carpenter -- No. 20 Vision Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone

On qualifying and practice:

"It was kind of a weird day. Compared to when we tested here, the conditions are really different. Obviously I would like to be quicker, but it was really windy today. It was tough to get a race setup today so that we can feel comfortable, but that's what we worked on. I think we spent a lot of time on race setups so that kind of compromised our qualifying effort, I think. Since we don't have a final warm-up that leaves us guessing a little and changes everyone's strategy, but I think we can do well tomorrow. Hopefully things will be good. We'll do everything we can to make a charge to the front tomorrow."
