FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Oct. 5, 2000) - Indy Racing Northern Light Series driver Stephan Gregoire walked away from a crash during a test session at Texas Motor Speedway on Thursday. He is one of five drivers testing today for next week's Excite 500 Indy Racing Northern Light Series event at Texas.

Gregoire, who drives for Dick Simon Racing, lost control of the #7      
GMexmil Force/Aurora/Firestone after something "broke" on the car in    
Gturn four.  He spun into the infield grass along the frontstretch      
Gwhere the car began to flip.  The car came to rest upside down and     
Gthen caught fire.  Safety crews responded immediately.  Gregoire was   
Guninjured and walked away from the accident.                           

"We're not sure exactly what happened," said crew chief Rich Simon. "We're still trying to determine that. We're now going to work on preparing the back-up car for next week's race. We were able to run all morning, but we're done for the day."

Other drivers testing today at Texas are defending Indy Racing champion Greg Ray for Team Menard, defending Excite 500 race winner Mark Dismore for Kelley Racing, as well as Robby McGehee and Shigeaki Hattori for Treadway Racing.
