READING, PA - - Penske Racing, Inc. announced today that two-time National Champion Gil de Ferran will participate in activities for the 87th running of the Memorial Day weekend classic.

De Ferran, injured in an accident at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, March 23rd, will drive for the first time when the speedway opens Sunday, May 4th.

"It will be the first time I get back in a car since Phoenix and I'm quite anxious to get going. Although it wasn't the type of time off I would've preferred, it was nice to have a little break and now its time to go back to work," said de Ferran.

"From a physical standpoint, I'm nearly at the same level of fitness I was prior to the start of the season."
