Sharp on Row Five for IndyCar Series Season Finale

Scott Sharp will make his fourth career start at California Speedway from the ninth position on the grid following qualifying this afternoon for the Toyota Indy 400 at California Speedway. Embroiled in a tight points battle for a top-five finish in the championship, Sharp will be looking to improve on his career-best result to date of eighth on the 2-mile oval as well as secure his second win of the season.

Scott Sharp, #8 Delphi Panoz/Honda/Firestone:
"It was a good run. I just can't say enough about this Delphi Fernandez team. At a point in the year when a lot of people are probably thinking about the season ending and time off, these guys worked really hard the past couple of weeks to come here with an all-new setup. We are developing it as we go in a short two-day schedule, but we are making good headway and hope it really pays off for us tomorrow."

On Honda's announcement today of their commitment to the IndyCar Series through 2009:
"I think I share everyone's enthusiasm in the league about Honda's announcement today and the support they are going to give the series for another four years. Being with Honda for the first time [this year as a driver], you understand why they are so successful. You see their commitment, their hard work and their dedication. Beyond all of that, they are a great group of people to work with and a great asset to IRL."
