PHOENIX, Mar. 17, 2001 --Walker Racing sophomore sensation Sarah
Fisher will start Sunday's Pennzoil Copper World Indy 200 at Phoenix
International Raceway in 21st position.

Sarah, in the #15 Walker Racing/Kroger/Iams/Pantene Special / Dallara/Oldsmobile/Firestone car, had only one lap to qualify for the race as opposed to two laps for most of the rest of the field. "We only had the one qualifying lap out there today, it made the run pretty tough because I didn't have enough time to really get the tires into the swing of things," Sarah said. "During practice this morning, we'd run some dummy qualifying runs and our second laps were faster than the first, so having only one lap out there was not something we had practiced. With everything not going our way so far this weekend, the high point so far has definitely been the signing of Kroger and Proctor and Gamble to our team. We'll take the starting place we have and turn towards a good race finish tomorrow."

Sarah's car had drawn the fourth qualifying spot, but failed technical inspection immediately prior to the qualifying session, forcing the team to move to the tail end of the line and only run one lap. "Currently we don't have an answer as to why we failed the technical inspection," said owner Derrick Walker. "Plain and simple, a dimension on the undertray of the car was of a greater diameter than was allowed in the rules. We checked this dimension yesterday during technical inspection, and we haven't really touched it since then, so we don't really understand why it has changed.

Looking ahead to tomorrow's race, there are two important things to remember once the race starts. It's hard to predict now how your car will behave during the race, but the first part of the race is focused on how your car is performing and how consistently, and if the car is consistent, your strategy is pretty straightforward, you just keep passing cars until you win. "

The Pennzoil Copper World Indy 200 race will be broadcast on ABC on Sunday, Mar. 18 at 2 p.m. (CT.)
