INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, June 21, 2001 - The following is a statement from Indy Racing Northern Light Series driver Davey Hamilton, who suffered severe feet and leg injuries in an accident June 9 at Texas Motor Speedway:

<B>"I just want to thank my fellow racers, fans, friends and my family for all the kind cards and letters I have received. The entire racing community has given me so much support, and it has helped me more than anyone can know. The doctors have assured me that everything is on track with my recovery, and updates on my progress will continue. My full recovery will not happen overnight, but I am confident in the care I'm receiving, and everyday gets better."

Hamilton is at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and is under the care of a team of specialist physicians led by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Kevin Scheid. He is still requesting no visitors, but cards and letters should be directed to: <pre>
