Hornish says "High, low - anywhere I wanted to go" in describing his race win at Chicagoland.

Pennzoil/Panther Racing team driver Sam Hornish Jr. pulled the old hat trick, starting from pole and leading the most laps to win today's Delphi Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. As he made his way to victory circle to celebrate his fourth IRL victory this season, Hornish said his Firehawks gave him the grip "to go high, low - anywhere I wanted to go. The tires stuck wherever I wanted to put the car, that's really a testament to Firestone and the great set-up on the car by the Pennzoil/Panther team."

He was followed across the finish line by Al Unser Jr. with Kelley Racing, who trailed by just .0024 of a second. Third place was claimed by Hemelgarn Racing's Buddy Lazier.

Quote from Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing: "The fans got their money's worth today. While Sam led the most laps, he faced a constant challenge from several drivers throughout the race. The Firehawk racing radial we brought to this event contributed to some tremendous grip and control, allowing many drivers to run just about any type of line they wanted. We basically had a multi-groove track, allowing some of the best racing we've seen all year. We know Sam and the Pennzoil/Panther Racing program are certainly glad to have first-place, pole and laps led points from this event, and we congratulate them on their outstanding performance all weekend."

Firestone Performance Award: Because he was leading at lap 70 in the Delphi Indy 300 today, Al Unser Jr. will earn a $10,000 bonus check from the Firestone Racing program. The award celebrates Firestone tires being in all 70 Indy Racing League events conducted since the first competition in 1996. The check will be presented in pre-race ceremonies at the season-ending event at Texas.
