Firehawk Race Tires Supplied: Firestone delivered 828 Firehawk racing radials for use this weekend. All were produced at the company's technical center in Akron, Ohio. At the direction of Indy Racing League officials, each entered car will receive eight sets of Firehawks (32 total tires) this weekend, to be used at its team's discretion throughout practice, qualifying and race sessions. The tire specification chosen for this weekend's event is different than the one used last season at Chicagoland Speedway. It was developed based on testing at Kansas Speedway in July using the same compound that was employed earlier this season at Texas, along with the construction used at Kansas. The same specification will be used in the season finale at Texas Motor Speedway.

Firestone in the Indy Racing League: The Delphi Indy 300 marks the 101st event since the IRL IndyCar Series debuted in 1996 0x2022 and Firestone has been there for every race. The only tire manufacturer to have participated in every IRL event, Firestone is now in its ninth season of IRL competition and fifth as sole supplier to the league, with 83 victories and seven of the league's nine championships to date. Again this season, Firestone is commemorating its status as the only tire manufacturer to have competed in every IRL race with the Firestone Performance Award, presented to the driver leading the race lap that corresponds with the cumulative number of IndyCar Series races to that point. This weekend's winner, the leader of lap 101, will be presented a $10,000 check from Firestone Racing during pre-race festivities for the Toyota Indy 400 at California Speedway on October 3.

Quote from Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing: "The Firestone Indy 225 turned out to be quite an event for us. All of us at Firestone were thrilled to have the opportunity to celebrate the IRL's 100th event, an important milestone for everyone involved with the league. Now we're eager to get on track at Chicagoland, and I can't think of a better place to start the next 100. This track has proven to be one of the most exciting places to watch an open-wheel race 0x2022 it's just as much a thrill for us to watch as it is for the fans. We work very hard to make durable, consistent tires that allow these guys to race at the limit of performance, and it's races like last year's Chicagoland event that make it all worthwhile. Hopefully we'll see another exciting finish here on Sunday."
