JOLIET, Ill. (Sept. 10, 2005) - Klein Tools/Jim Beam driver Dan Wheldon will start sixth in Sunday's running of the Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. Wheldon posted a best-lap speed of 215.484 miles per hour (25.3940 seconds) on his second qualifying lap for the 200-lap event.

Dan Wheldon, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We didn't get everything we wanted out of our qualifying run. The Klein Tools/Jim Beam car definitely had a little bit too much understeer and that cost us. It's so competitive out here that you've got to gamble a little bit. But, we have a relatively good race car so hopefully we'll get a good result."

Team 7-Eleven driver Tony Kanaan recorded a lap of 214.402 miles per hour (25.5221 seconds) during qualifying at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway and will start from the 16th position for Sunday's running of the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series Peak Antifreeze Indy 300.

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We haven't been doing a good job in qualifying. I'm confident that we'll have it together for the race, which is where it really counts, but our performance today was just a very, very poor job on our part. We need to find out where our speed went, because we were quick in practice."

XM Satellite Radio driver Bryan Herta will start seventh for Sunday's running of the Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. On his second qualifying lap, Herta posted a best-lap speed of 215.464 miles per hour (25.3963 seconds).

Bryan Herta, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"The XM Satellite Radio car was a little faster in qualifying than we were on our own in practice, so I think we made some improvement there. We're looking forward to the race and are expecting a good result."

Dario Franchitti recorded a lap of 215.067 miles per hour (25.4432 seconds) in the #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone during qualifying at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway and will start from the 13th position for Sunday's running of the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series Peak Antifreeze Indy 300.

Dario Franchitti, #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"It's just so frustrating to qualify at these types of tracks, because as a driver, you just put your foot down and see what you've got. We lost 1.7 miles per hour between the last practice session and our qualifying run and that time was posted when we were the only car on the track, so we weren't in a draft. It's just frustrating because I don't know where that speed went. Hopefully the race will be better."

The 15th event of the 2005 IndyCar Series season is set to go green at 1:45 p.m. (EDT) Sunday with ABC providing live broadcast coverage of the 200-lap event beginning at 1:30 p.m. (EDT).
