Archipelago/Motorola driver Bryan Herta ready to challenge at Chicagoland
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 2, 2003) -- On the strength of two- consecutive podium finishes (third at Kentucky and Nazareth), Bryan Herta is looking to ride that momentum as the Archipelago/Motorola team heads to the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway for the Indy Racing League IndyCarTM Series Delphi Indy 300.
A third straight podium finish would be a major accomplishment for Herta at Chicagoland, considering he will be making his first ever start there. The Archipelago/Motorola pilot is coming off a stretch of three races where he had vast experience and success at two of the three tracks, including a win in another series. Herta's Chicagoland experience totals one day of track time, which came in a test session there last week.
Qualifying for the Delphi Indy 300 will take place on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (EDT). The race is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. (EDT) and will be broadcast live on ABC Sports.
Bryan Herta, #27 Archipelago/Motorola Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"This is a tough series and anytime you don't have experience on a race track it makes it even tougher. The Archipelago/Motorola crew has been excellent the last couple of weeks and we are really working hard to get another win. I'm glad the Chicago event is a three-day weekend. That will help me because I haven't been there yet other than one day of testing and the more track time I can get the better."
Kyle Moyer, Team Manager, Archipelago/Motorola
"Chicagoland Speedway is a difficult track. When we tested there last week we learned a lot of things but we still have some more to learn. The track kind of surprised us but Allen (McDonald) and the engineers have done their homework this week so we should be in pretty good shape."
