December 18, 2000 - Stan Fox, midget champion and eight time Indianapolis 500 starter was killed in an automobile accident in New Zealand. No further details are available at this time.

His racing career wins included two Belleville Midget Nationals (1979, 1980); three Copper world Classics (1980, 1990, 1993); two Turkey Night Grand Prix (1990, 1991); Eldora Four Crown Nationals (1990), and nineteen USAC Midget events.

He competed in eight Indianapolis 500 mile races from 1987 to 1995, missing only 1989. His highest finish was seventh in 1987. His race career came to an end in a violent crash near the start of the 1995 race.

He was a member of the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame; the Belleville High Banks Hall of Fame and National Midget Racing Museum. He was also a member of the Janesville (Wisconsin) Sport Hall of Fame.

His wit, smile and driving style will be missed.
