Fans United to Save Indy, FUTSI, is holding a "500 Fan March and Rally" on November 4th, beginning at 12:00 noon across from the main entrance to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and is open to anyone wishing to participate. FUTSI would like to get the message to Tony George and the IRL that they disagree with the qualification rule change which guarantees starting spots in the Indianapolis 500 to the 25 top points leaders in the IRL series' races. FUTSI believes that reserving positions, in the world's premier race, is contrary to the spirit, essence, and tradition of what the Indianapolis 500 has always been. In their opinion this is a very negative change which will diminish the quality of the competition and the stature of a win. Only the best and the fastest should be in the world's greatest race.
FUTSI, whose members hail from 44 states and 5 countries, is appealing to both the IRL and CART to negotiate to salvage the 1996 season, for the fans' sake, and to work towards solving any problems in a responsible manner.
