Billy Boat has had an up and down week climaxing today in a crash that sent him to Methodist Hospital for evaluation. Boat was awake and alert.

The driver of the Pedigo Chevrolet Dallara was on track during the second practice session group. Boat hit the wall at turn four and crashed heavily into the entrance to pit road. The new safety foam barrier in place at that point kept Boat from having a more serious accident.

The second group was only into the first ten minutes of the allowed 30 minute practice time prior to qualifying attempts when the accident happened.

On Friday, Boat stated that Saturday's weather would have a lot to do with the team's strategy for qualifying. "We'll just have to take our best shot and do the best we can. It depends on the weather and what kind of draw we get. Sometimes you're better off to just go out and do it, and sometimes it's better to sit back and wait."

Now the team awaits the outcome of Boat's medical report.
