Rookie driver Danica Patrick earned the pole position at Kansas Speedway in her eighth IndyCar Series appearance. Rahal Letterman drivers will start Sunday's Argent Mortgage Indy 300 from the first three positions with Buddy Rice missing the pole by 0.0022 seconds. Vitor Meira will start third. In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race Bill Davis Racing teammates Bill Lester and Mike Skinner will start from the front row. Lester earned his second career pole after qualifying at 173.633 mph.

John Andretti competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Kansas Speedway. "You can really race these things," Andretti said. "Whatever these things have, they need to have it on NEXTEL Cup cars. You can race them, you can run them side by side. It was fun out there." Andretti drove the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado and ran as high as third before finishing ninth. Andretti qualified 23rd but was moved to the rear of the field for the start when his team was penalized for making "unapproved adjustments during impound."

The second installment of "The Fast Life" will air on ESPN2 at noon on Sunday, July 3. "The Fast Life" gives viewers a behind the scenes look at the IndyCar Series. Sunday's program will feature drivers Buddy Rice and Vitor Meira. Rice and Meira were spotted at Texas Motor Speedway wearing t-shirts identifying them as "Danica's teammate" and Danica's other teammate."

Jimmy Kite is doing double duty this weekend. Kite competed in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event finishing one lap down in 22nd. Kite will drive the Hemelgarn No. 91 in the IndyCar Series race on Sunday.

Todd Bodine's victory in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series marks Toyota's first win of 2005. Last year Toyota trucks notched four victories in their first year of competing in the series.
